CHRISTIAN DELLA GIUSTINA

Christian Della Giustina, born in 1959, is both a painter and a sculptor.

Of Italian origin and the son of a renowned cabinetmaker, Christian Della Giustina has always felt drawn to an artistic calling, a passion that his time at the Corvisart School and the École Boule only served to reinforce.

It is the pursuit of aesthetic emotion that drives him to constantly return to his work, preferring to interpret forms in his own way, without relying on live models. He thus allows himself small deviations from realism, so that his pieces are ever more harmonious. In search of a beauty that defies time, Christian Della Giustina recreates life, shaping and transforming it with sensitivity.

He presents us with works featuring delicately sculpted forms, more vivid and moving than ever. The artist expresses himself through light, fluid strokes and pays close attention to the finest details to reveal the soft, perfect curves of his enigmatic and elegant women.

The treatment of postures, the ease of the poses, and the sense of space all contribute to giving his nudes a bold personality imbued with modernism. But behind the sculptor recognized by his peers and the public for his magnificent, classically influenced bronzes lies… the painter. Indeed, the artist reveals another facet of his talent: that of a painter—and, moreover, a modern painter in the tradition of Pop Art—making a spectacular shift to color.

His techniques may vary, but his obsession with the pursuit of aesthetics remains undiminished. Above all, he loves to reveal an expression through his works, to highlight the depth of a gaze, to convey an emotion, and to capture the viewer’s attention. It is intuition, above all, that speaks for him. The combination of colors isn’t necessarily obvious at first stroke, but the desire to paint with this “flashy” palette—these vivid colors—is essential to the artist today. Just like the colors, the faces emerge quite instinctively. He attempts to capture femininity in its entirety. His faces are sometimes enigmatic; the color gives them a feline quality.

His entire body of work commands the utmost respect, as Christian Della Giustina renders the beauty of faces and bodies with naturalness, modesty, and a proven attention to detail.
