Pierre Paris
“From childhood, my earliest drawings were inspired by comic books. I went on to study various artistic disciplines.
The starting point was my first animal series, created entirely in pencil, titled ‘Harmonious Wildness’ (2019). My intention was to capture the essence of the animals through technical exploration of texture representation, using the play of light.
After many years working in black and white, I sought to use color to express a certain whimsy in my paintings. The year 2020 marked my first steps in painting (acrylic, oil). It quickly became my primary medium; each canvas is now a form of successful experimentation, allowing me to exhibit my work while practicing the fundamentals.
Over time, I have unconsciously deepened my sensitivity to observation. The infinite lines and colors in space seemed self-evident to me. Having become my main source of inspiration, nature helps compose my paintings in the form of “geometric abstraction,” allowing me to evoke a sense of immersion.
Today, my work reveals a dialogue between abstraction and figuration. An impossible quest to find a balance between two worlds that seem to oppose each other, at least on the surface… Using elements that seem very real, immersed in a boundless, timeless space, I try to draw you into an ambivalent world where all the questions of existence are posed… Without answers”
